Sphere of application

Megohmmeter E6-40 is a special type of ohmmeter used to measure the electrical resistance of insulators, diagnostics of insulating components of free-voltage electrical circuitry and equipment (including wires, cables, electrical motors and transformers). Additionally E6-40 is used to measure dielectric absorption ratio and polarization index of dielectric and it can perform measurements of 50 Hz AC external voltage with rms value from 50 to 600V on on measuring terminals.

General information about the device

Safety

Insulation-resistance meter Е6-40 is hand-held equipment. E6-40 has case is made of shatterproof BASF’s polycarbonate. In the closed position, the E6-40 has a protection class IP-67 that let use the device in harsh weather conditions that gives advantages for field services.

Display

This device has hard image letter-digital LED indicator which allows seeing plainly indications on a panel with wide view angle even in low light conditions. LED indicators provides possibility work with the display at very low temperature (on to -40C).

Powersuply

E6-40 is powered from lithium iron phosphate battery with nominal voltage 7.2B and capacity 1100 mA/h. E6-40 has automatic intelligent Battery Operation and Maintenance control system. The system informs if it is necessary to charge the battery. Choice of this power supply system predicates with climatic category. Plug connection MiniUSB on the front panel is assigned for connection of battery charging set, during the battery charge measuring is not working. During the field tests this kind of battery shows a very good reliability. Fully-charged battery was good enough for 1000 measurements.

Measuring

E6-40 perform measurements of resistances in the range from 0.1 MOhm to 250 GOhm with auto select of sub-range. Insulation test voltages (DC) are 100, 250, 500, 1000 и 2500 V. Additionally E6-40 is used to measure dielectric absorption ratio and polarization index of dielectric and it can perform measurements of 50 Hz AC external voltage with rms value from 50 to 600V on measuring terminals.
